Omega Circle Releases Emotional Gospel EP Inspired by the Memory of a Mother

South African gospel group Omega Circle has released a deeply personal new EP titled “Worship Songs I Could Have Sang With My Mother,” a project rooted in grief, remembrance, and unwavering faith.

The EP reflects on the profound emotional impact of losing a mother, a loss that can shake one’s sense of security and trust in the world. Through worship music, Omega Circle explores how faith can become a source of healing in the face of such pain.

“Losing a mother is perhaps one of the hardest things one will experience. It is a loss that can shake your foundation, causing you to lose trust in the world and the people around you. Yet, in that void, you learn to lean into God, trusting Him to see you through,” the group shares.

That journey of faith forms the heart of “Worship Songs I Could Have Sang With My Mother.” A recurring phrase throughout the EP is “Ndithembe kuwe,” meaning “I trust in You,” capturing the central message of surrendering to God during moments of deep loss.

The project emerged unexpectedly earlier this year. According to the songwriter behind the EP, the idea came during a moment of reflection on the passage of time.

“I didn’t initially plan to work on this dedication, or any music at all, until I woke up one February morning feeling uninspired and lost. It suddenly dawned on me that this year marks 20 years without my mother,” the artist explains.

That realization sparked a creative process that produced songs imagined as shared moments between mother and child.

“In that moment, I found myself leaning once again into that spirit of trust, writing the songs I felt my mother and I would have sang together, perhaps even with my children — the grandchildren she never met.”

The songwriting process unfolded in quiet, reflective moments. Some songs were written in the early hours of the morning, while others came unexpectedly during the day. Omega Circle wrote every track on the EP except for the opening piece, a reimagined version of Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika, which serves as the project’s introduction.

More than just a musical release, the EP stands as a tribute to the influence of a mother who shaped the artist’s understanding of love, faith, and identity.

“This EP is an ode to a first love—the woman who taught me how to love myself and how to love God,” the group explains.

Through its reflective lyrics and worship-driven sound, “Worship Songs I Could Have Sang With My Mother” aims to resonate with listeners who have experienced loss and found comfort in faith.

For Omega Circle, worship music acts as a bridge between memory and spirituality.

“Worship songs serve as a bridge for that connection; for many people like me, they carry us back into a warmth we miss and can never experience in the physical world again.”

With its themes of grief, trust, and devotion, the EP offers a moving listening experience for gospel audiences and anyone seeking solace through music.
