Following the success of his earlier releases, including Sokologang and Glory featuring Zimbabwean gospel singer Takesure Zamar, Malete returns with a more mature sound and a powerful collection of songs rooted in scripture, worship and hope.

Speaking about the EP, Malete says the project was born during a season of prayer and personal reflection.

“Looking Unto Jesus is more than an EP, it’s my personal testimony and an invitation for people to keep their eyes on Christ despite the challenges they face. Whether someone needs encouragement, healing, repentance or reassurance, I believe there is a song on this project that will speak directly to their heart. My prayer is that every listener experiences God’s presence through these songs.”

Malete adds that while the music has evolved, his mission remains unchanged.

“I’ve never wanted to make music simply to entertain people. My calling is to minister. If someone walks away from this EP with renewed faith or gives their life to Christ, then I have fulfilled my assignment.”

Produced alongside a talented team of musicians from Limpopo, the EP showcases rich harmonies, powerful live instrumentation and heartfelt worship that has become synonymous with Malete’s growing ministry.

What inspired Looking Unto Jesus?

The title came from Hebrews 12:2, reminding believers to keep their focus on Jesus regardless of life’s circumstances. Every song on the EP is centred on that message.

How does this EP differ from your previous releases?

This project reflects my spiritual growth. The songs are more personal, the worship is deeper, and the message is even clearer. I wanted listeners to experience God’s presence from beginning to end.

What message do you hope listeners take away?

That no matter what they are facing, Jesus is still the answer. My desire is for people to leave with hope, peace and renewed faith.

Tell us about working with Takesure Zamar.

Collaborating with Takesure on Glory was an honour. His ministry and voice added another dimension to the song, helping us reach audiences beyond South Africa.

How has your upbringing influenced your music?

Growing up in Strydkraal, Sekhukhune, in a God-fearing family shaped everything about who I am. My faith was nurtured in church, and that’s where my calling began.

What has been your biggest lesson since beginning your music career?

Perseverance. There were moments when I almost gave up because doors weren’t opening, but God reminded me that His timing is always perfect.

More ministry through music, collaborations with other gospel artists, live worship experiences, and performances around the country as I share Looking Unto Jesus with audiences.
