Lusanda Beja has earned admiration through talent, discipline, and years of steady work. His rise in the gospel music scene has been consistent, and fans have followed his journey with interest. Many gospel artists have found love in recent years, and he is now the latest to celebrate this milestone.
He announced his engagement to his partner Zimkhitha through a photo shoot shared on his social media pages. He captioned the images with a scripture from Song of Solomon chapter 3 verse 4. “I have found the one whom my soul loves.” The announcement drew positive reactions from fellow gospel musicians. Dumi Mkokstad, Xolly Mncwa, Mahalia Buchanan, Xola Toto and Ziyanda Tshangana sent congratulatory messages.
He later shared a video of himself with his uncles during the lobola process for his fiancée. He captioned it as a new chapter written by God. The moment highlighted his excitement and the significance of this next step in his life.
Speaking to Drum, he opened up about the emotional journey that led him to this point. He spoke about longing for commitment and facing moments where his intentions were not met with the same energy. He explained that his spirituality allows him to break stereotypes. He wants to remain open minded and relatable. He added that he avoids fitting into rigid ideas of what a gospel artist should be.
Beja was born in Gugulethu, Cape Town. His career began gaining momentum at the age of 16 when he entered the SABC 2 singing competition I Want To Sing Gospel South Africa in 2008. He made it to the top 7 and began building an audience.
In 2010, he founded his own record label. Three years later, he released his debut album titled Revelation of Grace. When his career did not progress as he expected, he decided to try another path. In 2016, he auditioned for Idols South Africa and reached the Top 16. The experience broadened his reach and introduced him to new supporters.
His major breakthrough came in 2018 with the release of Ulidwala. The song gained strong national attention and positioned him as a rising figure in gospel music. He followed it with his second album, Jesu Ulidwala, which strengthened his reputation as a skilled singer, songwriter and arranger.
Since then, he has continued to release music and perform across South Africa. He remains committed to his craft and is known for delivering music that connects with listeners in a direct and sincere way. His engagement marks a meaningful moment in his personal life as he continues growing in his career and faith.
