Sihle Khumalo Declares 2025 His Breakthrough Year After Multi-Award Success

Gospel sensation Sihle Khumalo has described 2025 as his breakthrough year following a series of major award wins. The 26-year-old musician from Nquthu, northern KwaZulu-Natal, made headlines when he claimed the biggest prize at the Crown Gospel Music Awards in November, surprising many in the industry.

Khumalo began his music career a few years ago, steadily building his reputation. His hit song Okudalelwe Mina propelled him to national recognition, earning critical acclaim and a growing fanbase. The track won Best Gospel Song (Song of the Year) at the Crown Gospel Music Awards, surpassing established gospel artists such as Jabu Hlongwane, Sindi Ntombela, Nontokozo Mkhize, Mmatema, and Kgaogelo Kekane.

In addition to this accolade, Khumalo also secured the Best Itende award at the same event. This followed his earlier win for Best Itende at the Ingoma Music Awards in August, cementing his status as a multi-award-winning artist. “I won the Best Itende award during the Ingoma Music Awards in August and now I’m a multi-award-winner,” Khumalo said.

Khumalo emphasizes that his music serves a higher purpose. He said it is not merely for entertainment but is intended to guide people toward God and offer healing to broken hearts. His commitment to ministry through music has resonated with audiences, contributing to his rapid rise in the gospel scene.

To honour his achievements, Nquthu Municipality is planning a celebration at VA Makhoba Hall on 29 December. Khumalo expressed gratitude for the municipality’s support since the beginning of his career, noting that the event will be a moment to share his success with his community.

With multiple awards in 2025 and growing recognition, Sihle Khumalo is positioned as one of South Africa’s leading gospel artists, promising a continued impact on the industry and listeners alike.
