Apple Music’s Spirits Rejoice Campaign Elevates South Africa’s Gospel Greats

Apple Music is bringing gospel music into the spotlight this season with its Spirits Rejoice campaign — a heartfelt celebration of praise, worship, and healing through music. The campaign features two specially curated playlists from two of South Africa’s gospel powerhouses: Dumi Mkokstad and Khaya Mthethwa, each using their musical gifts to spread a message of hope, faith, and divine reassurance.

Pietermaritzburg-born singer, songwriter, and producer Dumi Mkokstad delivers a playlist that echoes the beauty of “heaven’s perfect timing.” His selections focus on music that brings transformation — songs that touch the spirit and uplift the weary. “As a songwriter, producer and singer, I’m drawn to songs that are not only well-constructed but that carry a deep spiritual impact. I’ve seen how these tracks top charts because people resonate with their message,” Dumi shared. “I’m truly humbled to be included in Apple Music’s Spirits Rejoice. Thank you for the recognition.”

Meanwhile, Durban’s own Khaya Mthethwa uses his playlist to shine light in dark places. Known for his powerful voice and emotionally rich music, Khaya’s playlist is all about encouraging believers to hold on through tough times. “This Apple Music playlist is one of my favourite jams right now!” Khaya exclaimed. “These songs remind me not to give up. They fill me with a sense of God’s goodness in my life.”

The Spirits Rejoice campaign is more than a playlist drop — it’s a musical ministry. Featuring some of the biggest names in gospel from South Africa and abroad, the playlists include moving tracks by Benjamin Dube, Joyous Celebration, Ntokozo Mbambo, Hle, Xolly Mncwango, Takie Ndou, Bucy Radebe, SbuNoah, and international legends like CeCe Winans and Tye Tribbett.
