Gospel singer Mmatema Moremi Gavu, popularly known as Mrs G, has announced the cancellation of her highly anticipated Heart of Gratitude album tour. The 33-year-old artist from Zebediela, Limpopo, thanked fans for their unwavering love, prayers, and support, acknowledging that their encouragement has kept her strong.
After a period of prayer and reflection, Mmatema shared that cancelling the tour was the right decision. She referenced 1 Kings 4:7, explaining that the woman’s oil only stops flowing when there are no more vessels to fill. She said she is entering a season of rest, spiritual and physical restoration, and refilling. “As ministers, we pour continuously, and sometimes the oil runs low. God is calling me to pause, rest, and refill,” Mmatema said, asking fans to respect this personal season.
Mmatema first rose to fame as the runner-up on Idols South Africa season 11 in 2015. Since then, she has performed at top venues, major festivals including the Edinburgh Fringe, and shared stages with leading gospel artists. She has also hosted Gospel Unplugged and starred in the SABC 2 drama Bone of My Bones. Beyond music, Mmatema plays Basetsana in the telenovela Genesis, showing her versatility as an actress.
Her latest album, Heart of Gratitude, has been widely praised and earned her three nominations at the Crown Gospel Music Awards, including Best Female Gospel Artist, Song of the Year (Oa Ntwanela), and Best Praise Song (Oa Ntwanela). The tour was set to kick off on 5 December 2025 at New Life Church in Bryanston, north of Johannesburg, with a promotional date on 11 October in Polokwane at 3C Ministries. Fans are warned not to purchase tickets from anyone claiming the tour is still on, as the cancellation is official.
Mmatema confirmed that all other commitments for the year will continue as planned; only the tour is on hold. Despite this pause, she is keeping her music and ministry active, encouraging fans to stream Heart of Gratitude and watch her videos on the Mmatema Music YouTube channel. Her personal channel, Mmatema Mrs G, will continue to offer Word-based content, vlogs, and behind-the-scenes clips.
