Gospel Superstars Winner Nondumiso Maseko Drops Debut Single ‘Kungo Thando’

Rising gospel vocalist Nondumiso Maseko has signed a major recording contract with Gallo Record Company, celebrating the milestone with the release of her debut single, “Kungo Thando”.

Hailing from Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, the 31-year-old powerhouse singer gained nationwide prominence after being crowned the winner of Gospel Superstars Season 1. Her national victory set the stage for her debut with Gallo Music, as the legendary record label continues its commitment to developing and showcasing premier South African talent.

Maseko’s musical roots were cultivated in a faith-filled household where she led youth worship and sang in church from an early age. Reflecting on her early spiritual conviction, Maseko shared: “I grew up in a home filled with music and faith. When I sang my first solo as a teenager, I felt God’s presence so strongly. From that moment, I knew gospel music wasn’t just something I loved, it was my calling.”

Her maiden release, “Kungo Thando”, translates this lifelong dedication into a deeply personal testimony. Rooted in the scriptures of John 3:16 and 2 Corinthians 12:9, the song serves as a reflection on divine grace, perseverance, and God’s unconditional love.

For Maseko, “Kungo Thando” carries weight far beyond a conventional debut—it anchors her journey through deep grief and spiritual renewal following the loss of her mother in 2023.

“In 2023, I lost my mother, and I honestly thought I would never recover from that loss,” said Maseko. “But by the grace and love of the Lord, I am still standing. That experience allowed me to create and truly connect with Kungo Thando. Today, I know that where I am is not by my own might, power or even my voice, but by the love and grace of the Almighty.”

Known for her heartfelt authenticity and worship ministry, Maseko envisions her platform as a space to inspire others facing hardship and to mentor young creatives navigating the music industry.

“My prayer is that this song gives hope to listeners and encourages them to reflect on God’s unfailing love,” she added. “I hope to use my voice to inspire young artists to embrace their gifts and pursue their purpose fearlessly.”
