A Golden Era for Gospel

Speaking on the nominations, Unati Gwija, SAMA spokesperson, described this year’s lineup as a reflection of “the wisdom of age meeting the exuberance of youth.” Nowhere is that more evident than in the gospel categories, where both established icons and emerging voices are celebrated for their contributions to South Africa’s spiritual and cultural soundtrack.

The SAMA31 ceremony will take place in November 2025, blending the intimacy of a live in-person celebration with the accessibility of a global digital broadcast. Under the theme Less Noise. More Music, this year’s show promises to amplify the voices of faith and showcase the role gospel plays in uplifting, healing, and uniting communities.

As the countdown begins, fans of gospel and faith-based music will be watching closely to see who will walk away with the coveted trophies. One thing is certain: at SAMA31, gospel will continue to shine as a cornerstone of South Africa’s rich musical heritage.
