After 18 years of captivating audiences on screen, Samela Tyelbooi is stepping into the gospel music scene. The talented actress from Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape recently featured on Dobby 4040’s powerful single, Holy, marking her official entry into music ministry.

Samela, widely recognized for her role as Ayanda Majola on SABC1’s Generations: The Legacy, shared that this feature is just the beginning of her musical journey. She plans to release more gospel songs while continuing her flourishing acting career.

Throughout nearly two decades, Samela has been a staple in top South African productions, including Rhythm City and other acclaimed shows. She explained that she has been waiting for God’s perfect timing to pursue music. “God’s time is the best. I’ve been featured by Dobby 4040 in his gospel single titled Holy. The meaning behind the song is being divinely dedicated to the purpose of God. I’m hoping to restore, heal and strengthen with this song,” she said.

The actress emphasized that she will now walk both paths, balancing her acting and gospel music ministry. “Yes, more music will be coming soon. I’ll be doing both music and acting,” Samela affirmed.

Dobby 4040, whose real name is Carel Dobby Mokoena, shared that the inspiration to collaborate with Samela came from 1 Peter 1:15, which says, “just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do.” He praised Samela’s anointing and talent, noting that the studio session was guided by the Holy Spirit.

Samela Tyelbooi’s debut in gospel music signals a new chapter of worship and ministry. Her unique blend of talent, faith, and anointing promises to inspire and uplift listeners, offering songs that restore, heal, and strengthen the spirit.
