”‘These Are 100% Fake’: Ntokozo Mbambo Confronts Scammers

South African gospel sensation Ntokozo Mbambo has issued a heartfelt warning to her fans, alerting them to a surge in online scams involving individuals impersonating her on social media platforms. In a recent post, she emphasized the importance of vigilance, stating:

“Hey everyone, please read this carefully: There have been reports of scammers pretending to be Ntokozo Mbambo, sending fake messages to fans. They may offer fake prizes, ask for money, or request personal information. These are 100% fake.”

Mbambo clarified that she would never solicit money, gift cards, or personal information from her followers. She urged fans to be cautious of unsolicited direct messages offering “exclusive deals” or claiming they’ve won contests, especially if not announced through her official channels.

This warning comes amid a broader trend of online impersonation scams in South Africa. Notably, President Cyril Ramaphosa’s office previously cautioned the public about fraudsters posing as the president to solicit funds via social media and messaging platforms . 

To assist her audience in identifying legitimate communications, Mbambo shared her verified social media handles on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. She also encouraged fans to report any suspicious accounts to help curb the spread of these fraudulent activities.
