Treasure Hunt: A Faith-Filled Film Premiering in South Africa This October

Treasure Hunt, a faith-filled, action-packed film shot in KwaZulu-Natal, is set to premiere in South Africa this October after its debut at the American Black Film Festival in Miami. The movie combines inspiring messages of faith, courage, and love with gripping action and heartfelt drama, making it a must-watch for gospel audiences.

The film tells the story of a man seeking to leave a broken past behind. When he discovers a stash of jewellery in a trash bin, he faces a critical choice: return to old ways or follow the path of righteousness. Treasure Hunt explores real-life struggles, grace, forgiveness, and the transformative power of faith, offering viewers a message of hope and second chances.

The Johannesburg premiere will take place on Tuesday, 14 October 2025, at 5:00 PM at Killarney Mall CineCentre. The Durban premiere follows on Friday, 17 October 2025, at Suncoast CineCentre. Both venues will screen the film for one week starting 17 October, with the possibility of extension based on audience demand.

Set in the picturesque Valley of a Thousand Hills, the film’s backdrop emphasizes the journey from struggle to redemption. The KwaZulu-Natal setting not only enhances the visual storytelling but also connects audiences to local culture and the beauty of God’s creation.

Directed by pastor and storyteller Chim Onyebilanma, Treasure Hunt was produced by CAP Studios in Embo, KwaZulu-Natal. The studio is dedicated to nurturing local talent and creating films that inspire faith, demonstrating that gospel and purpose-driven cinema can entertain while uplifting the spirit.

The cast features South African actors Moopi Mothibeli, Muzi Mthabela, Trevor Gumbi, Zane Meas, and Samukele Mkhezie, alongside many local volunteers who contributed their time to support the film’s powerful message.

“Treasure Hunt is more than a film,” Onyebilanma says. “It’s a message of hope. It’s about the real battles people face every day, and the choice to believe that your story isn’t over.” The movie is designed to inspire audiences while remaining suitable for families and faith-driven communities.

By attending Treasure Hunt, viewers support local gospel-inspired storytelling while experiencing a film that highlights God’s grace and the power of faith in transforming lives. This premiere represents an important step in showcasing South African faith-based cinema and uplifting communities through meaningful, gospel-centered narratives.
