The Tshwane Gospel Choir has released a stirring live-performance video of their song “Matilo,” featuring the soulful vocals of Patience Moshwane. This captivating rendition was recorded at the South African State Theatre, a venue known for its grandeur and acoustic richness.
In the video (watch here), the Choir’s 34 strong voices rise in unity, weaving through rich harmonies with deep emotion. Patience Moshwane’s solo sections bring clarity and heart, delivering lyrics that speak of surrender, trust, and divine faithfulness. The live instrumentation — drums, bass, and keys — propels the song during high-energy moments while softening during reflective passages. The stage is bathed in warm lights, and the audience’s presence is felt, adding to the worship experience and making it more than just a performance: a spiritual encounter.
This video is part of the choir’s live album, Harmony of Prayers (Part 1) – Live at the State Theatre. The album release was confirmed for 12 September 2025, with “Matilo (Live)” officially listed as a featured track. Other songs on the album include “Ngikhululiwe,” “He Is the Lord,” and “Amen,” creating a balanced worship experience.
Tshwane Gospel Choir combines African gospel with contemporary elements in a way that feels both grounded and elevated. “Matilo,” which can be interpreted as “Your will” or “Your plan,” carries a message of surrendering to God’s purpose. The live context amplifies this, making the performance feel like a prayer in motion. Singing in multiple languages allows the Choir to connect across South Africa’s diverse audience. Recording at the State Theatre is significant as the choir concluded its final “Revival” series there, marking a new chapter in their music ministry with Harmony of Prayers.
Founded in 2009 by Bheki Langa and Boitumelo Langa, the Choir is composed of 34 vocalists and a six-piece band. Their sound mixes traditional African gospel with contemporary influences, and performing in multiple South African languages broadens their appeal.
The “Matilo” video is more than a song; it is a live worship moment captured with energy, musical excellence, and spiritual depth. It highlights the Choir’s role not just as performers but as ministers of worship and reinforces their impact in South Africa’s gospel music scene.
