Legendary American gospel singer CeCe Winans brought an unforgettable evening of faith, worship, and inspiration to Rhema Bible Church in Johannesburg on Wednesday, 20 August. Known for her exceptional career and heartfelt performances, CeCe captivated the audience with more than just music, delivering a powerful message of perseverance and devotion.
As part of the South African leg of her ongoing tour, CeCe shared her personal journey of walking with God. She reminded attendees, “We have come for no other reason than to lift up the name of Jesus,” setting the tone for a deeply spiritual night.
The 60-year-old Grammy-winning artist wrapped up her Johannesburg performances, which began on Tuesday, before heading to Cape Town for two additional shows. Known as the “Goodness of God” hitmaker, CeCe, whose full name is Priscilla Marie Love Winans, has earned 17 Grammy Awards and built a phenomenal solo career alongside her early work with twin brother BeBe Winans in the iconic duo BeBe & CeCe Winans.
During her deeply emotional performance, CeCe moved many to tears as she spoke openly about her career and spiritual journey. She emphasized the power of true praise and the importance of dedicating one’s heart fully to God. “It says we must love him with all our soul, heart and mind and how many of us know that we can’t do that without the Holy Spirit… That is our goal tonight, to forget about our stresses, meditate on him and give him everything we have,” she said.
Reflecting on her global tour, CeCe explained, “We are honoured to be here. We’ve been touring internationally and, in the States, but the heart being the song and the tour is for God to help us give us more.” She encouraged fans to deepen their relationship with Jesus, declaring, “I want to encourage you, fall in love with Jesus now, living for him is the best life you can ever live, and you have to give him everything, he wants your whole heart, strength and mind.”
CeCe also paid tribute to her parents, acknowledging the spiritual foundation they laid. “I’m so grateful to my parents because they taught us the word of God and not only did they teach it, but they lived it in front of us,” she said.
The night was more than a concert; it was a powerful reminder of faith’s enduring impact, delivered by one of gospel music’s most beloved voices. Fans left Rhema Bible Church uplifted and inspired, carrying with them the message of God’s presence and the transformative power of worship.
