Gospel musician Dumi Mkokstad is preparing to wrap up his Kingdom Mandate Revival Tour with a grand finale at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC) on 29 November. The 33-year-old artist from Pietermaritzburg in the KZN Midlands says the tour is more than a series of concerts. For him, it is a revival platform designed to lead people back to God.
The Ulwandle hitmaker launched the tour earlier this year with powerful live album recordings in Johannesburg and Cape Town. Both shows drew large crowds and set the stage for the final leg in Durban. All three live recordings will feature on his upcoming live album, aptly titled Kingdom Mandate Revival Tour.
Speaking about the vision behind the project, Dumi, whose real name is Mdumiseni Nzimande, explained why this tour is different from traditional gospel festivals. “There are many gospel festivals, but those festivals are just festivals for worship and not to give people an opportunity to turn to God. My tour is a revival, and we give people an opportunity to turn to God during the show. The main aim is to revive and allow people to turn to God,” he said.
While he had hoped to cover more provinces, including the Eastern Cape, limited funding restricted the tour to Gauteng, the Western Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal. He emphasized that ending the tour in Durban is intentional, as it allows him to celebrate with his home province. “Because KZN is my home province, I wanted to end my tour with them because I know they support me every time. The reason I started in Joburg is because Joburg people were asking me to do something for them, and I decided to start with them on my tours,” he added.
Looking ahead, Dumi confirmed that instead of releasing a full album at once, he plans to release singles from the live recordings gradually. “Times have changed,” he said, highlighting the shift in how audiences now consume music.
With the Durban ICC show marking the conclusion of the Kingdom Mandate Revival Tour, fans can expect a night of worship, ministry, and powerful performances that reflect Dumi’s mission of using music as a tool for spiritual revival.
