Gospel Singer Nqobile Mbandlwa Finds Strength in Faith After Devastating House Fire

Nqobile Mbandlwa is holding on to faith and hope after a devastating fire destroyed his home and recording studio in Chatsworth, south of Durban. The fire broke out on 25 May and left him and his family with nothing as their house and music equipment burned to ashes. The loss wiped out both his shelter and the space where he created gospel music that supported his family. He says the experience has tested his strength, but it has also deepened his reliance on God. In the middle of hardship, he continues to lean on prayer and community support as he tries to rebuild his life.

The musician is currently living in a community hall with his family while they recover from the disaster. The sudden change has brought emotional and practical challenges, especially as his children continue attending school without uniforms after losing everything in the fire. Despite this, he says he remains thankful for the help he has received from different people and organisations who stepped in during the crisis. He has described this support as a reminder that kindness still exists, even in painful seasons. He believes that faith has carried him through the hardest days and kept him focused on rebuilding rather than giving up.

Mbandlwa has received support from members of the KwaZulu-Natal creative industry and community-based initiatives, including church-led support networks. He also acknowledged counselling and encouragement from faith leaders who have stood by him during this difficult time. Among them, he praised Pastor Mjosty for offering emotional and spiritual guidance while he and his family adjust to life after the fire. He says these acts of support have strengthened his belief that God provides help through people in times of need. For him, the journey has become a testimony of endurance and grace in the face of loss.

The gospel artist says his main goal now is to rebuild his home and recording studio so he can return to his calling. He explains that music is not only his livelihood but also his ministry and way of sharing hope with others. Losing his studio has been a major setback, but he remains determined to restore what was lost through faith and hard work.
