How Ntsamaeng Became a Gospel Powerhouse – Tracing Her Journey from Praise Covenant Church to National Stages

Ntsamaeng Motloung’s journey in the South African gospel music scene is one of passion, dedication, and steady growth. From her early days singing in her father’s church to performing on some of the country’s biggest gospel stages, Ntsamaeng’s story continues to inspire many upcoming artists.

Her musical foundation was laid at Praise Covenant Church where she was surrounded by gospel music from a young age. Growing up in a spiritually rich environment, she quickly developed her vocal skills and love for worship music. This environment shaped her style and deep connection to her music.

After completing high school, Ntsamaeng pursued formal music education at Central Johannesburg College. It was here that she refined her vocal technique and stage presence, preparing her for the professional music world. Her journey began with humble roles as a backing vocalist for established gospel artists. Her strong and versatile voice soon made her a sought-after background singer for live recordings, studio sessions, and music DVDs.

One of her early career highlights came when she competed in a gospel music TV competition, making it into Johannesburg’s Top 15 while still in high school. This exposure gave her a taste of the national stage and introduced her to a wider audience.

Over the years, Ntsamaeng worked with several gospel heavyweights including Mnqobi Nxumalo, Canaan Nyathi, Collen Maluleke, and Lebo Sekgobela. Her work with Pastor Sarah Motswedi on the album Greater Love further showcased her vocal strength and spiritual depth.

Her journey reached new heights when she was invited by gospel legend Bishop Benjamin Dube to join the Spirit of Praise Choir. This experience allowed her to perform at major gospel events, appear on widely viewed live DVD recordings, and tour with one of the most respected gospel collectives in the country.

In 2018, Ntsamaeng took part in the Gospel Goes Classical South Africa live recording, further solidifying her presence in the gospel industry. Her growing reputation opened more doors, and in 2019, she contributed vocals to the South African soundtrack of the Disney blockbuster The Lion King, working under the guidance of Khaya Mthethwa and Lebo M.

Determined to step into the spotlight as a solo artist, Ntsamaeng hosted her first live concert titled Out of Myself in October 2019 in Johannesburg. The show was well received and marked the beginning of her solo career.

Looking ahead, Ntsamaeng is preparing for her live recording event titled The Visitation, scheduled for May 2025 at Carnival City in Boksburg. This upcoming project is expected to showcase her full artistry and serve as a powerful worship experience for her growing fanbase.

Ntsamaeng Motloung’s rise from church singer to national gospel powerhouse reflects her hard work, faith, and undeniable talent. As she continues to share her gift with South Africa and beyond, she remains a shining example of what dedication and spiritual grounding can achieve in the gospel music world.
