Beloved South African gospel singer Lebo Sekgobela is expanding her ministry by stepping into the world of acting — a move she describes as nothing short of God’s grace. The Lion of Judah hitmaker made her acting debut in a Mzansi Bioskop production titled Ingozi, which aired on Saturday, 19 July.
In a heartfelt testimony, Lebo shared how this new opportunity was something she never expected, but fully believes is part of God’s greater plan for her life. “God is doing big things in my life. He’s doing things I never thought I’d be doing,” she said. “It’s been God opening doors, and I’m so grateful.”
Much like her music ministry, Lebo revealed that acting found her — not the other way around. “I never thought of getting into acting. Just like music, I believe it found me. I never planned to do music professionally, and yet here I am. Now, someone saw this acting gift and gave me a chance to grow.”
She has since started taking acting classes to further develop her new skill, seeing it as another platform to grow and reach people with purpose. Lebo expressed deep appreciation for those who believed in her potential, saying, “I’m truly grateful for the people who saw this talent in me — a gift I didn’t even know I had.”
Despite her new acting journey, Lebo is firmly rooted in her calling to minister through music. “My music calling will not suffer in any way. I’ll still be doing music and ministering. This is something I’ll be pursuing on the side.”
In addition to her acting debut, Lebo is currently on a nationwide gospel tour, taking her anointed sound to audiences far beyond Johannesburg. “Many people outside Joburg only experience our music through streaming, TV, or print. This tour is about giving them the full experience of the worship and the message,” she explained.
Her recent stops have included Klerksdorp, and she’s set to perform in Bloemfontein, before heading to Cape Town for the Total Praise concert on 30 August, and finally back to her hometown in the Vaal on 18 October.
Lebo Sekgobela’s journey is a powerful reminder that God’s plans are always bigger than we can imagine. As she continues to sing, minister, and now act, her life is a testament to the many ways God can use His vessels to impact the world — on stage, on screen, and in spirit.
