Mzansi Magic Unveils ‘Genesis’: A Riveting Tale of Gospel Music, Power, and Betrayal

Mzansi Magic is set to captivate audiences with its latest telenovela, Genesis, premiering on Monday, 21 April 2025, at 19:30 CAT on DStv Channel 161. This 260-episode series delves deep into the intricate world of the gospel music industry, exploring themes of loyalty, betrayal, and the complexities of family dynamics.

At the heart of Genesis is Felicia Thabethe, portrayed by the esteemed Baby Cele. Once the reigning queen of gospel music, Felicia now faces a tumultuous journey as secrets threaten to dismantle the legacy she built alongside her husband, Gabriel Gigaba, played by Buyile Mdladla. With their music label, Genesis Records, hanging in the balance, Felicia must navigate the treacherous waters of the industry to protect her family’s name and future.

The series boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including KB Motsilanyane as Wendy Sedibeng, Gaosi Raditholo as Mmarona Sedibeng, Nay Maps as Bonko Thabethe, and Kealeboga Masango as Nobuhle Gigaba.  Each character brings depth and nuance to the narrative, enriching the storyline with their unique perspectives and challenges.

Produced by Singavision Productions, Genesis promises to be an emotional rollercoaster, shedding light on the often unseen struggles within the gospel music realm. Shirley Adonisi, Director of Local Entertainment Channels for M-Net, shares, “It’s all about family, power struggles, love, faith – all set in the powerful and highly contested gospel music industry which is very relatable to Mzansi.”

As Genesis unfolds, viewers can expect a gripping narrative that challenges perceptions and delves into the sacrifices made in the pursuit of fame and legacy. Don’t miss the premiere on Mzansi Magic this April.
