Xolly Mncwango spent a remarkable day at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, witnessing a powerful display of hope and resilience at the Zakithi Nkosi Clinical Centre. The visit coincided with a special initiative by DKMS Africa in honor of World Leukaemia Day, highlighting the impact of care, support, and community for children battling leukaemia.
During her time at the clinical centre, Mncwango observed the incredible work of the Stanley & Daphne Nkosi Foundation, established in memory of Zakithi Nkosi. She expressed deep admiration for the foundation’s dedication to both medical and emotional support, describing the experience as inspiring and transformative.
“The resilience on those kids. I am still astonished,” Mncwango shared, reflecting on the courage and determination of the young patients. She emphasized the significance of witnessing the foundation’s work firsthand, noting how it touches lives and restores hope daily.
Mncwango also highlighted the day’s activities, which included healing harmonies and moments of encouragement designed to uplift patients and their families. She described the event as a tangible demonstration of God’s handiwork, where care and compassion directly impact lives and nurture a sense of community.
For Mncwango, being part of the initiative was more than observing medical interventions; it was about experiencing the power of hope, faith, and human resilience. “They don’t just save lives, but also restore hope and heal the nation, one day at a time,” she said.
Her visit to Chris Hani Hospital stands as a testament to the importance of supporting children with leukaemia and celebrating the organizations and individuals dedicated to making a difference. Through her reflections, Mncwango reminds us of the extraordinary impact that compassion, dedication, and community can have on the lives of those in need.
